You are very wrong and looks like you are confused between the two.
IITs take admission only through the exam called Jee Advance. The one who qualifies the exam with good score and rank are only eligible for the IITs.

For jee advance exam, one needs too qualify the JEE MAINS exam. Every year some cutoff score is fixed for the qualification based on candidate's performances and numbers. The one who qualifies with the cutoff score in JEE MAINS are then allowed to sit for advance examination.

In short, you need a qualifying score in Jee Mains and a good score with good rank in Jee Advance examination in order to take admission in IITS.

The IITs take admission through jee advance only. Only NITs and othe colleges take admission through jee mains

No it's not right.jee mains is for NITs and IIITs and other GFTIs.jee advance is for IITs.all those who qualified jee mains are eligible for jee advance.all those who qualified jee advance are allowed to take part in the counseling for admission in IITs.
