Admission in IITs is through JEE advanced examination and to be eligible for jee advanced you need to qualify jee main first.

JEE  advanced eligibility criteria is given below :-

---------------------) Qualification required :- One needs to pass 10+2/ or equivalent with the following 5 subjects:-

• Physics

  Recommended

• Chemistry

• Mathematics

• A language

• Any subject other than listed above

Those appearing for 10+2/equivalent are also eligible.

---------------------) Minimum marks in 12th /equivalent :-  you need to pass your class 12th with at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination.

††† IMPORTANT NOTE :- Considering pandemic in order to give relaxation. The minimum percentage barrier of 75 % - 65% has been lifted off for jee advanced 2022. It means all you need to be eligible is to have at least passed 12th .

----------------------) 12th /equivalent passing year :-  You can give JEE advanced examination for the maximum of consecutive 2 years starting from the year of appearing for your 12th examination i. e to be eligible for JEE advanced 2022 your 12th board examination appearing year should be either 2022 or 2021

Considering pandemic, there's one time measure for students who had passed 12th in 2021 & 2020.

• For 2021 passed :- Those 2021 passed students who had qualified jee main 2021 and had registered for jee advanced 2021 but couldn't appear in the examination are directly eligible for jee advanced 2022 without appearing in jee main 2022.

• For 2020 passed :- 2020 12th passed students are also eligible for  jee advanced 2022 after qualifying jee main 2022 provided they have appeared in only one of 2020 or 2021 jee advanced or none of them.

-----------------------) There is upper age limit, according to which to be eligible for jee advanced 2022, you should be born on or after 1st October 1997. There is 5 years of age relaxation for SC, ST and PwD so candidates of SC/ST /PWD needs to be  born on or after October 1, 1992.

It is conducted for admission in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and also accepted by many other colleges. Also it is necessary to qualify jee main to be eligible for jee advanced

Jee main eligibility criteria is given below-

---------------------------) Qualification required :- to be eligible  for JEE mains you need 10+2/equivalent qualification from a recognised board.

-------------------------) Passing year :- one is eligible for JEE main examination for consecutive three years starting from the year of appearing for 12th /equivalent examination i. e to be eligible  for JEE mains 2022 you should be either appearing for 12th board exam or equivalent  in 2022 or should have passed it in 2021 or 2020

-------------------------) There is no age limit to be eligible

-------------------------) there is no minimum percentage requirement to be eligible for JEE Main.

But yes,

To be eligible for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs one needs at least 75% marks in class 12th if belongs to General or OBC category  or at least 65% marks in class 12th if belongs to Sc or St category or needs to be in top 20 percentile of their board examination. This minimum percentage barrier in 12th was lifted off for the year 2021 i. e jee main 2021, if lifted again for jee main 2022 , then NTA will notify about it.

Indian Institute of Technology currently has 23 campuses in India and each of of them are considered to be the best engineering colleges across the country. The admission to these colleges is done on the basis of candidates performance in the JEE advanced examination before which one needs to clear the JEE main examination. JEE main is an undergraduate engineering entrance examination held for entry into NIT IIIT and safety colleges in addition it also works as the preliminary examination for JEE advanced. Examination consist of questions from Physics, Chemistry and mathematics and candidates performance is evaluated based upon the score obtained in the examination. IITs are the premier engineering institutions of India and they not only offer engineering courses but some other courses as well but are popularly known for engineering courses. If you are seeking admission in engineering courses offered by IITs then you have to appear for JEE-Advance and on the basis of JEE-Advance rank you will get admission in it through JOSAA counselling.

To be eligible for JEE-Advance, first of all you need to appear for JEE-Main either in the appearing year of class 12th or after passing class 12th and once you qualify JEE-Main then only you can appear for JEE-Advance.

For JEE-Main, eligibility criteria goes like :-

1--- Age criteria :- There is no age limit to appear in JEE-Main but note that there might be the age limit in any particular institution taking admission through JEE-Main score, so you should keep this thing in mind.

2--- Qualifying Examination :- To be eligible for JEE-Main one should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics as mandatory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject from any of the recognized central or state board.

3--- Year of qualification :- For JEE-Main 2022 only those candidates who have passed Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or 2022; or those who will be appearing in Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2022, would be eligible to appear.

So if you follow all above criterion then you are definitely eligible for JEE-Main.
