If you are just focussing on your class twelfth board....then I would suggest that you drop a year. However, beforehand...you must thoroughly go through the syllabus and question papers of the past years. This will help you to analyse how much time you need to give for each topic, you will be able to assess the difficulty level of the exam. You will also get to know at what stage would you like to join the coaching. I would recommend that first you do self study and then join the coaching. If you are dropping a year to appear for the JEE exam, then your aim should be to finish the complete syllabus and be thorough with it by October 2018. After that you should start taking mock tests. By December you should be able to identify your weak and strong areas and then work on it in the last three months. The last one month before the exam should be just revision and you should not study anything new.

Hi, See the syllabus for JEE Main is the same as Class 12. If you have studied well for class XII, believe me you can do good in JEE Mains also. I think a drop is not the solution. Statistics show this fact. See this - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-should-you-drop-year-or-take-admission-in-other-colleges I believe that JEE Main is not the only answer. There is BITSAT, VITEEE and other exams that you could take on and they all are simply Class XII based. Why should you think of wasting one year when there are so many good options? Besides, you have almost 5 months and that is plenty of time to seriously prepare. Start with a plan that incorporates the syllabus of Class XII and JEE Main - common topics. See this article - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/how-prepare-for-jee-main-and-class-12th-board-exams DONT give up. You can do it this year -its just a bit more hard work. Start right now and get going. All the best!

Obviously u should drop one year, one year is not a big time if u work hard and achieve a good rank in next year.but I think u should give mains this year also.

U have 5 months in ur hand form now if u work hard and learn line by line of NCERT book specially chemistry u can score well, and for physics u should go through hc.verma and for math do practice form cingage book.and if u achieve full command in calculus and algebra u can solve 60 to 70% easily in maths.
