Hello Akansha!

See I would suggest making the corrections whenever possible because you never know at what stage there may be some obstruction regarding the name.

Some colleges may have an issue with the name error and some may not.

Better to be safe right?

Actually I have gone through this problem,but it was with my name iyself.If your fathers name has a change in your 10th certificate it doesn't affect you in taking admissions in colleges etc.
But it can create proble while applying for passport,for any job related application.
So better make corrections in it.
You can easily change 10th certificate if it's a state board. But CBSE has a long procedure for changing the name,as I had gone through it.Government Web centers like 'Akshaya' can help in it.

I am in icse board , they are saying that i need to first publish name in some newspaper to correct the name i think it is a long procedure so i just want to know that is affidavit enough for this or i should go with first way
