The institution was established in 1981 by Vasavi Academy of Education under the leadership of Late Sri Pendekanti Venkata Subbaiah. Vasavi College of Engineering is affiliated to Osmania University and approved by the AICTE. The college is spread over a campus area of 13 acres. It has a total faculty size of 135 and total student enrollments of 3071. Vasavi College of Engineering offers a total of 12 courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The college offers a variety of facilities and infrastructure to its students. Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad was ranked 187 as per the NIRF 2020 report in the engineering category.
