Becoming an event planner is definitely a great career option. Event planners are needed for weddings, office events, larger family events (big birthday bashes, anniversaries etc) and many more.

Whenever I've engaged an event planner or whenever I've seen others engaging them, no one ever worries about their academic qualification. Their skills, communication and experience matter, not qualification. Still, if you want dedicated training, there may be a few institutes. But I am not aware of any, I hope someone else can help you with that part of your question Priya :-).
