In your respective case yeah B.Tech in Civil is a good option in which you will have the more govt job options in comparison to the private and about the BIT Mesra point of view yeah it is one of the pioneer Institution of India. So, just go for it.

BIT Mesra is an average college  for civil engineering but the Faculties here are very qualified and shows interest in making students  learn.The faculty is very experienced and dynamic. Their behavior towards the students is very generous and supportive. Most of the teaching faculty consists of a doctorate in their respective fields. They always tend to help the students in need. Placements are branch dependent. Computer science and I.T. attracts the largest number of placements with attractive packages. For the other branches, the placements are average with a median salary of 6 lpa. The opportunities are for core companies as well as from startups. A large list of companies like zostel, L&t, maruti, Tata etc visit every year looking out for fresh talents.
