Hello,

There will be very little chemistry involved in Chemical Engineering. But you may have to cope up with some basic subjects like Physical and Organic Chemistry as they are mandatory. If you love Maths and Physics, you can really like Chemical Engineering. Subjects that are involved in Chemical Engg are Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, Momentum Transfer, lot of Maths (differential equations, probability, matrices, mathematical methods), Transport Phenomena etc. These are really some of the fascinating subjects and really hard. Chemical Engg is one of the hardest branches but if you are interested, you will enjoy it. Chemical Engg also has immense scope for research, some of the research areas include:

  • Alternative fuels
  • Bio Chemical Engineering
  • Catalysis and reactions
  • Cellular Engineering
  • Computer modelling and simulations
  • Nano Technology
  • Materials Science
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Electrochemical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering etc
