No its not difficult to prepare for gate from the 3rd year of college irrespective of the branch in which you're persuing the B.Tech.

There are different books available in the college library too that is gate books of different years (Made Easy)  at the initial level you can read  your reference books of the subjects which are in 2nd year with the opinion of your faculty in college 

and then the books of library.

I hope you are doing good. Now Coming to your query, you could have started your preparation from the 2nd year then would be quite easy but it's ok you are far better than those who start preparation in the Final year. But Saurav it's not much difficult but you have to spend some extra hours from your fun time to prepare. First, understand the pattern of the question paper thoroughly by seeing previous papers so that you can understand what topics are most important and how questions are asked. Based on that prepare timetable to cover maximum topics. Along with theory try to do more examples. Stick to your time table even though it's little difficult but remember if you get goog gate rank then all this pain will be no longer.

Hello aspirant, I want to suggest you that for your GATE preparation you shall start it from your 2nd year but if you want to start it from your 3rd year, you can do it but you will have to put some extra efforts in your preparation.
