Let's clear out the confusion first, Pharmacy courses are offered at various levels.

The four year program is BPharm, i,e.. Bachelor of Pharmacy.

GPAT is an entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to post-graduate program of Pharmacy that is MPharm. People having completed BPharm or in final year are eligible for this.

Pharm D is 6 yrs course with 5yrs of academic study including one yr of clinical
internship. Eligibility Criteria is passed 10+2  with PCB or anyone with D Pharm(diploma in pharmacy is eligible).

I think what you are asking about is B.Pharm graduates are admitted as lateral entry candidate to the 4th year of Pharm.D programme (Post Baccalaureate)  the duration of course is 3 academic years ( 2yrs of study and 1 year of internship or residency)
