No, It's not necessary to give improvement in all subjects for jee main . It's only required when you have score less than 75% total board exam marks.
Then you need to give improvement in subjects to get above 75% marks. This is because, if you have score less than 75% total board exam marks and you want to get admissions in any nit or iit college, you will not get admission there, as the minimum eligibility criteria to get admission after qualifying jee exam is that the candidate must have 75% marks in their 12th standard.
So, give improvement exam if you score less than 75% in board exam.

No. As per the new rules you are no longer required to give improvement exam for all the 5 subjects if you wish to be eligible for a seat in IIT-JEE. ... JEE requires minimum 75% marks in just three subjects, PCM. So,if your average PCM marks is above 75, there is no need to give improvement.
