Most prestigious colleges like iit nit and other star colleges take jee marks Into consideration .Not always the case ,their is Bits,mit,vit,NMIMS etc.

JEE main examination's score is important, only if you wish to pursue your career in NIT's or IIIT's. Admissions to these institutes is based on the cut off's and ranks securesd in JEE main examination. However there are many institutes which provides admission on the basis of the marks secured in Higher secondary exam or junior college, whatever it is. If you want to study in NIT's or IIIT's or IIT's or GFIT's, well, you need to have a very good score in JEE main and thus becomes important.
