No, JEE is not necessary for pursuing B.Sc. Physics in any University. JEE Main Scorecard is necessary to pursue UG Courses in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and many other Engineering Colleges while JEE Advanced is for UG Courses in IITs and certain other colleges like IIST, IIPE, RGIPT, etc.
However, if youre referring to the BS (4Year) Course in Physics at IITs, or Integrated M.Sc. in Physics at some of the NITs, yes JEE will be necessary, or maybe the same case if your aspiring BS/BS+MS from IISER, JEE Score is considered in the admission & counselling process.
However, you dont really need to stretch that far, most of the State and Central Universities have B.Sc. Physics/Hons. Course with Merit Seats.
