It is not necessary for a Hindi medium student to struggle the first year itself.

It depends from one person to another.

I would suggest you to follow the classes regularly and ask for help when needed. You can also make notes in hindi separately when the teacher explains you so that you can understand the book when studying and relate to the hindi terms to help you understand. it will be tough to get first year notes over the internet. I will advise you to contact a senior who can help you with that.
