Hello,

No, SEBC is not same to GEN:EWS as GEN EWS is for general category candidates who has annual income less than 8lakhs while SEBC means socially and economically backward class.GATE considers GEN:EWS,OBC,SC, ST, PwD. SEBC will come under OBC so you can opt for OBC categorical reservation in GATE entrance exam. If you have good score and rank then you can apply for different scholarships and Yojanas given by government and institute. There will be enough relieve in tution fees.
