B.Sc honours course is any day better than B.sc general course. However, B.Sc honours does not neccessarily mean that everyone who takes it up receives the tag of "honours". Honours in B.Sc is awarded to those students who secure the minimum required percentage of marks during the course of three year to fall in the bracked of honours.

Hello!

B.Sc (Hons) is much more specialized as compared to the B.Sc (General) degree, and academically, B.Sc (Hons) is a more standard degree as compared to B.Sc (general).

If you want to study any one of the main sciences (eg. chemistry, physics, mathematics etc.) in detail, it is advisable to go for a B.Sc (Hons) course. But if you want a more balanced and multi-disciplinary approach, it is better to pursue a B.Sc (General) course for under-graduate studies.

B. Sc honours is more advantageous than doing a regular B. Sc degree because of several reasons-

1.You get a very strong background in your honours subject (which I presume is your subject of interest) so that would help to take you a long way.

2. Some universities for P. G. programmes ask only for applicants with a honours degree eg. BHU, CU etc. But there are no umiversities who asks specifically for Bsc students. ie. if you are a honours student you can apply anywhere without any restrictions .

3. If you wish to take up a career in acadenics then having a honours degree ithe subject for which you wish to apply for a teaching position definitely gives you an edge over others.

4. There's no point in being a jack of all and king of none (hope you understand what I mean)

 All the best!

Hello Sanjay,

Thanks for contacting Careers360.

A Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree is considered to be superior to the Bachelor of Science degree. The Bsc(Hons) is considered to be, academically, more standard than the ordinary Bsc degree.

It is also considered that getting a job with BSc Hons is easier than getting a placement with the qualification of BSc

But getting a B.Sc Hons degree is tougher than getting a B.Sc degree because the number of papers increase.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
