SNSCE Coimbatore was established in 2007 by the SNS Charitable Trust. It operates as a private, self-financing, and co-educational institution. Since the academic year 2019-20, SNSCE Coimbatore has been granted autonomous status by both the UGC and Anna University for a period of 10 years.
