Both government and private dental college nowdays have equally good professor's, infrastructure , well equipped labs and hospital. Only drawback in private college is that patient inflow is more in government colleges. So students there get more hands on training.
The claim that the quality of graduates from these private medical colleges is poor..... While this may be true, it's not fair to tar all private colleges with the same brush. Some private colleges like Manipal are way better than few government colleges.

Yes! There do exist differences between private and government medical(B.D.S) colleges:

• Money is the major deciding factor. Students who scored very good marks are attracted towards govt. medical colleges as the cost of study is minimal as majority of the expense is taken care by the government. On the other hand, the cost of expense for study in private college is astronomical compared to govt. colleges. Also, for students from poor financial backgrounds, govt. medical colleges are their only hope.
• You would get ample exposure in govt. colleges compared to private. Medicine is a blend of practical and theoritical study. For practical study, students need outpatients. As the cost of treatment is low in govt. hospitals, more number of outpatients come to govt. hospitals.
• But some private colleges have better staff, well equipped technologies compared to govt. medical colleges. 
• Whatever it is , but at the end of the day, it is your will power and knowledge that is going to help you to become a good doctor!
