Being a government university, the reservation is mandate in every aspects of all the colleges (except placements). So is the case with the hostels of delhi university.

DU has reserved some of its seats for according to categories, while the rest belong to general class.

The reservation criteria is as follows:

• Scheduled Castes: 15%
• Scheduled Tribes: 7.5%
• Other Backward Classes: 27%
• Persons with Disabilities: 5%
• Wards of War Widows: 1% 
• Sports/ ECA Quota: 1% 
• Foreign students: 1%
