The  answer is obviously Yes.Marine Engineering is a job oriented course . There are courses with diploma also but doing this course in B.E/Btech adds more value.It is also very important to select the college.while choosing marine engineering college check whether they are approved by the Director general of shipping, ministry of shipping or not.

To do this course you must have completed your 10+ 2  science stream with 60% and English- 50%.The age limit is up to 25.There is no lower limit for age.You should also pass in the medical standards.

This is one of the course one will have a promising career and shipping industry is one of the chief source of global economy.After the completion of 4 years course ,one should do sea service for 6 months and get a class 4 marine engineer certificate .After getting this certificate one can work as marine engineer in merchant Navy ships.If you can go for more training programs and sea service,will be able to reach class 1 position and become chief engineering officer too.

A lot of marine engineers are required in the shipping industry. With further hard work and study, if you manage to get a class 4 or class 1 marine engineer certificate of competency, you might end becoming a chief engineering officer. Also, you can join the merchant navy.
