Dear candidate, giving NEET and then doing MBBS is the best and basic way of becoming an opthamologist. However, other courses through which you can become opthamologist are:

  • Diploma in Ophthalmology

  • Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology

Then doing some Post-Graduation courses like: Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology and Master of Science in Ophthalmology and Master of Science in Ophthalmology.

Hope, it helps!

Dear Aspirant,

Most of the admissions in the courses of ophthalmology were done based on medical entrance examinations organized in national level or state level like NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test), AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science ), etc.....

So it is not mandatory, there are few other alternatives like state level examinations to do opthalmology courses but it is recommended to write NEET by considering the enormous admission opportunities it provides.
