CAT/XAT is the first step that you must qualify in order to be eligible to appear for further processes of IRMA. Last year the  cutoff for general category was around 85 percentile, for NC-OBC category, it was 70 percentile and for SC/ST/PWD category it was 60 percentile.
The above mentioned percentiles are both for CAT and XAT followed which you have to appear for IRMASAT which is IRMA Social Awareness Test for which you can refer the "agriculture" section of Indian Economy book. Here also a cut off is decided. For general category it was 21 marks,  for NC-OBC, it was 16 marks for SC /ST/PWD it was around 10 marks(last year). Combining both the CAT/XAT percentiles and IRMASAT test, you will be called for further process of GD and interview.
IRMA doesn't host typical GDs rather it takes Group Activity wherein you will be given a short case and then you will have to prioritise the alternatives given. For example :the case can be-  " in a state of war in a country whom would save first, prioritise the options."
Note: this is just a sample case, real cases will involve little reading and would deal majorly with some rural related sectors.
This will be followed by interview. Be true to yourself in the interview.
Finally combining all the scores of CAT/XAT + GA+interview, a final list will be prepared.

Cat is necessary for Irma after cat irma takes its own test...u have to qualify both the exam....getting more than 80 to 85 percentile ie enough for Irma and Irma exam is quit esay u can easily crak it  and than it depends on you how you perform in gd....
