Dear Aspirant,

Criminology is a better course if you wish to become a CID officer. To become a CID official one ought to need to have at least two years of experience as a uniform official. After that, you'll be able to apply for the transfer to the CID office post where you will be trained. The following is the eligibility criteria for becoming a CID officer:

Subject combination : Any subjects in class 12

Entrance exam : Indian Civil Services examination held by the Union Public Service Commission

Education Qualifications :

  • To join CID, a candidate must have done graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
  • A candidate who has effectively finished graduation can join this division as a sub-inspector.
  • Numerous colleges/universities in India offer degrees in criminology and criminal justice at the graduation level which might be useful to join CID.

Minimum Age : 20 years

Maximum Age : 27 years

Age Relaxation :

  • 5 years relaxation for SC/ ST category students (20 - 32 years)
  • 3 years relaxation for OBC category students (20 - 30 years)

Selection Process :

  • Written Test
  • Physical Fitness Test
  • Interview
