To be eligible to appear for JEE Mains, you should have either completed yout 12th or should be appearing for 12th with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Vocational subject. JEE Mains is held twice every year. Once in January and once in April. So you can choose any one of the sessions or appear for JEE Mains for both the sessions. To qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate criteria. But if you want to join NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% only in your 12th. 11th marks aren't considered. And then to appear for JEE Advanced which is the gateway for admission to IITs, you will need to fulfill the 75% aggregate condition. Now it is 75% for General Category and 65% for Reserved Categories. So how much you score in 12th is what matters to secure your eligibility for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and JEE Advanced. Regarding preparation, you can try our Knockout package: https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-jee-main-april/ . You need to know your syllabus and understand the exam pattern. Make a plan and stick to it. Make a note of the books to refer from and practise as many mock tests or sample papers as you can.

Divide the syllabus into Class 11 and Class 12 and the topics as "Need to Learn", "Weak" and "Strong". Now it is important to check the weightage of each topic. In Physics, Modern Physics take the top slot with 5 questions. Heat and Thermodynamics, Optics, Current Electricity, Elcetrostatics get 3 questions each. Magnetic has 2 questions and the rest get 1 question each. In Chemistry, Transition Elements and Coordination Chemistry, Periodic Table and Representative elements take 3 questions slot. Thermodynamics and Gaseous state, Atomic structure, Chemical Bonding, Chemical and Iconic Equilibrium, Solid State and Surface Chemistry and Nuclear Chemistry and Environment get 2 questions slot eacch and the remaining get 1 question each.In Mathematics, Co-ordinate Geometry gets 5 questions. Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Integral Calculus get 3 questions slot each. The rest get 2 and 1 questions slot. For complete breakdown, please read our article: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-syllabus-weightage . Once you complete a topic, try to practise the concepts and write down the important points and paste them somewhere that you can see. Practise questions from that topic. Refer to books like:

Concepts of Physics by HC Verma

Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick and Walker

Understanding Physics by DC Pandey

Problems in General Physics by I.E.Irodov

Understanding Physics by Freedman and Young

Problems and Solution of Physics by Shasti Bhushan Tiwari

Chemistry:

Dear Aspirant,

You must follow these simple steps:-

1. Check out the syllabus and structure your preparation, made a plan on how you're going to cover the syllabus.

The best thing to help you in this is coaching material from some good institute. They have their material prepared according to the need of the Exam.

2. When the plan is ready, make a schedule. Remember timetable matters a lot for this one year. Be ready to give at least 6 hours per day for the preparation.

3. Solve the questions from question banks and previous year JEE papers.

4. Repeat these steps. Follow --> Learn --> practice.

5. Also keep on revising the stuff every third week. It is also a very crucial step in your preparation.

Thank you.
