The average salary of IITians is about 9-10 lakhs per annum with some having package of crores and some even not get placed because of poor performance .

The average salary of NITs are quite different if you belongs to top NITs your average salary will be same as IITs about 9-10 lakhs but other NITs average package offered is between 5-6 lakhs per annum .

But it is your potential that gives you high packages not college .

There are some students graduated from IITs but not having a job yet and some from tier 3 colleges doing job at MNCs .

So what provides you good salary is your potential and labour , getting into IIT or NIT is not a criteria for getting job it is your potential and labour .

Now why most of IITs and NITs students get good salary because they are laborious , they qualified JEE and secured seats there and have done good in college too and to have a good atmosphere and tough competitors and that is why they do better and get good jobs .
