Hello Saurabh,

If your aim is to join a PSU, you should start preparing for GATE as early from 1st year. All the branches would land you a decent job in PSU.

CSE, IT and ECE have lesser seats as compared to Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. So if you want to have multiple options for PSU, you can opt any of the Civil, Mechanical or Electrical branches.

You can visit this link- https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/psu-recruitment-through-gate and checkout the various opportunities you can grab by choosing appropriately.

Your main focus should be to secure a decent rank in GATE and then you can apply for the PSUs you wish for.

Good luck
