Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was established on 1 ^st May 1948 through the merger of several defence medical units on the initiative of the BC Roy Committee. Presently, it is counted amongst India's premier medical institutions and holds the status of a centre of excellence for education and research. Situated in Pune, the college is administered by the country's armed forces. It offers postgraduate, undergraduate and postgraduate diploma programmes in the fields like nursing, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry and paramedics. The institution holds the approval of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and affiliation of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.
