Hey Toshita, In states like West Hengal, Assam the cut off usually goes low as compared to states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra. Also as you've mentioned your friend belongs to St category there are chances that she / he might get a government college in may be 2nd or 3rd round.. Hope this helps.. Good luck..

As you mentioned with ST category and 306 marks, your chances of getting a decent government college in your state through state quota(85%) are quite high as cutoffs are usually around 195+ for ST.
