Indian Institute if Technology Madras is one of the premier institutions in the country and chemical engineering is a course that is reasonably high in demand. A rank of 5232 makes it a bit tough since this is a course high in demand at a top university. Also being in general category makes it all the more tough for it to get into. However, you can get into chemical engineering at other IITs that are a bit lesser ranked such as

1. IIT Tirupati

2. IIT Hyderabad

3. IIT Indore.

4. IIT Gandhinagar

5. IIT Ropar

6. IIT Patna.

7. IIT Bhubaneswar.

8. IIT Mandi.

Or you can get into other courses such as marine engineering or metallurgy

Firstly, congratulations on your score. To start off, IIT Madras has a lot of fluctuations in the cutoffs so do keep that in mind. Based on previous years information available, you might not get Chemical Engineering in IIT Madras but you can get Civil Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering , Biomedical Engineering, Naval Engineering.
