Actually, the cutoffs of the previous year are given on the basis of state general merit no. & marks.

But the thing is that the cutoffs of the reserved category are also given on the basis of the state general merit no.

So it would not be reliable to go through the merit rank cutoff as it cannot be predicted how many general & other students are ahead that mentioned cutoff of state merit rank.

So it is advisable to go according to the cutoffs mentioned on the basis of marks.
