General category cut-offs are much higher as compared to cut-offs for reserved categories.
The state you belong to . For govt colleges in each state, 85% seats are reserved for students belonging to the state and 15% are for All India Quota.
So in your home state, for 85% seats, you are competing with students belonging to your state alone.
There are a few states where competition is very high like Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh etc.
