Always aim for the govt college.Private colleges will only provide you a degree but not the required knowledge.


Even the so called top private colleges dont have proper labs and faculties.They just want the hard earned money of your parents.I am saying all this from my personal experience.


So its better to drop a year for the preparation of agricultural entrance exams.Private colleges wont land you anywhere.


If you still wants to join a private college then you may try the following universities


1.Amity university,Noida


2.Lovely professional university


3.Chandigarh university


and so on…..


Once try for ICAR exam and then make up your mind.

B.Sc. Agriculture is a 4-year professional undergraduate degree awarded by Indian Universities for 10+2 students preferably with Science stream.


The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing this course is that the student must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks.


Some of the top colleges offering this course are:


  • University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore


  • Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar


  • Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar


  • Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur


  • Shivaji University, Kolhapur


Admission to the course is mostly entrance exam based. KEAM, EAMCET are a few entrance exams conducted for admission to the course. There are  42 State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), 1 Central Agricultural University (CAU), 5 Deemed Universities (DUs) and 4 general Central Universities with Agriculture faculty in India. These institutions provide admission at UG level in 11 disciplines and about 15,000 students get enrolled every year. The course is not so popular among students but the demand for trained professionals in agriculture is very high.



The average course fee ranges from INR 10,000-50,000 per year. Graduates can find jobs in both the public and private sectors. The Gazetted post of Government of India as Agricultural Officer (Agronomist) is one of the most prestigious jobs in the public sector after B.Sc. Agriculture.


Some other jobs associated with the profile are:


  • Agriculture Officer
  • Assistant Plantation Manager
  • Agricultural Research Scientist
  • Business Development Executive
  • Marketing Executive


The average annual salary offered to these professionals ranges between INR 2 to 4.5 Lacs.



B.Sc. Agriculture: Eligibility

Interested aspirants for the course are required to fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.


  • Completion of Intermediate (12 years of school education) in Science stream.


  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics as the subjects of study.


  • Apart from this, candidates possessing Intermediate in Agriculture stream (limited states) are also eligible to apply. Depending on the university, the eligibility varies in terms of a combination of subjects. Eligibility criteria also vary for reserved categories as per the reservation guidelines of GOI. 



B.Sc. Agriculture: Admission Process

Admission in universities or institutes offering the course is done basically in two modes. It is done either based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Direct Admission) or written exam conducted by the university/institution that offers the degree.


The details on how to apply for B.Sc. degree in Agriculture can be collected from the authorized website of the institution along with the information on course details and the available number of seats. The application forms can be obtained either through the college office or from the concerned web portal.



Some entrance exams conducted for admission to B.Sc. Agriculture course are as follows: 


ICAR Entrance Exam (ICAR-AIEEA)- It is an agriculture entrance exam conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for  admission to 15% seats in Agriculture Universities in Bachelor Degree programs and 100% seats in ICAR Deemed to be Universities and NDRI, Karnal


EAMCET- Conducted for admissions in Agriculture colleges and universities in Andhra Pradesh


PAU Entrance Exam- Conducted by Punjab Agricultural University


KEAM- Conducted for agricultural colleges in Kerala


IGKV CET- Conducted by Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya

BSc Agriculture is a 4-year undergraduate degree awarded by Indian Universities for 10+2 students preferably with Science stream. B. Sc. in Agriculture is considered as a professional degree by the Government of India. The course is not so popular among students but the demand for trained professionals in agriculture is very high.


Well, the eligibility criteria of most of the courses for taking admission in B.Sc agriculture is to pass with 60% total marks in 10+2 or Intermediate (with English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology or Forestry) or Intermediate (Agriculture) OR 2 years Diploma in Agriculture after 10th.


You can go for various entrance exams conducted at national and state level like.


ICAR AIEEA 2019 (National level)


The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organizes the AIEEEA examination. It is a national level exam organized for providing admissions into UG and PG agriculture programs, and there are also other state level entrance exams for agriculture.
