For getting a call from any of the premier B School there are multiple criteria apart from CAT score including academic background, work experience, diversity factor and others. Institute roll out profile based calls.

Different colleges have different criteria hence only a good CAT score may not be sufficient for getting a call.

IMI Delhi considers the following for admissions

• Overall CAT percentile
•  Academic profile. Marks in Class 10, 12 and graduation are taken into account.
• Work Experience, if any is also given due weight 

So if he hasn't got a call, chances are that he might have fallen short in the other criteria.
