Hello Dipali garu,
You haven't mentioned the category. So ,I'm giving you last year cut off for all categories
Gen:89.7548849
Ews:78.2174869
Obc:74.3166997
Sc:54.0128155
ST:44.3345172
Pwd:0.1137130. This year total 869010 students attempted for jee January. The students going to attempt in april are 1200000. You can calculate your rank using formula (100-percentile)*869010/100. That is 2,01,610.This is his approximate rank. You can understand whwre he stands and according to the cut off you will know whether he will qualify or not.Surely make him prepare for jee april so that the chances of getting NiT may come. If he only want to join in BITs tell him to prepare for that. Whatever the syllabus for both is same and BITs will have extra aptitude and reasoning. So, ask him to write both the exams . Wish him Luck. Hope this is useful. The below link will give the predicted colleges.:
