As a general category student apart from a strong profile you need to have atleast 95+ percentile even to get a call from any ultra new IIM. So, unfortunately, your son will not get a call from any IIM.
With 87.1 percentile as a general category student, for your son, I am mentioning the list of top colleges where he has a good probability of getting a call and converting it.

There is again no surety of selection or getting a call from these colleges because CAT marks are not the only parameter involved in the selection procedure. After CAT exam every college in which you have applied prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer whose weightage varies for all different colleges.
And after your second round of interview again a new merit list is made which also includes marks of your interview, GD and WSAT which along with CAT marks generally have the highest weightage.

According your score the chances are less to get a call from IIMs as the minimum you require 90 percentile to apply for New IIMs. The other chances based on this score you have the chances for TAPMI, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, Prin.
