I’m afraid that’s going to be tough for you, if your rank was closer to 25,000 then you would have had chances. Before the counseling process reaches 25,000, category 2 Mechanical will mostly get over. And besides there will not be too many seats added for Category 2 so I think you should expect Mechanical in Category 3.

However, if you are ready to go for the Chennai campus, you still can have a chance. But there are other campuses as well. Because in the Chennai campus, there are more than 200 seats remaining in category 1 itself. By the time the counseling reaches 25,000, I am sure cat 1 seats will be over.
