With a rank of 19,898 in the general category, it becomes difficult to procure a seat in the government IHM's when comparing the results of previous years. Last year, the closing ranks for central government IHM's were around 6,000 and for state government IHM's, it was around 13,000 in the first round. If possible you may get in the second round or final one. Else, apply for private institutes. But, one thing to keep in mind is that scores and ranks vary each year with difficulty level of the question paper and availability of seats.
