Hi Manmeet, if you had Bio as an additional subject it can be a problem because as per NEET-CBSE criteria,  'study of Biology/Bio-technology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible.' So this creates an issue as per NEET eligibility criteria.

And if you have done from open or NIOS, then you are not eligible.

I would like to draw your kind attention to section 4 of Eligibility and Qualifications under Code 03 Code 04 and Code 07 wherein it is mentioned that candidate must have passed Physics Chemistry and Biology along with practicals, of course English also irrespective of Biology taken as elective or additional subject. It's nowhere mentioned that Biology has to be a compulsory subject. Had it been so important criteria for regular students it is worth mentioning in all the Codes. So it makes clear that ineligiblity of open school or private candidate at 10+2 level in reference to Biology as an additional subject are not permitted to take NEET. Kindly correct me if I have not understood it properly. Thanks.

Hey Manmeet, I would like to add that in case you have studied Biology in 11th and 12th (regular in both classes), irrespective of the fact that Bio is optional in 12th, then you can apply for NEET.But if you have Bio just in 12th, that too as an optional subject then the eligibility differs in this case. Hope this helps you.

Also manmeet, do fill the NEET form. If the case goes to the Supreme Court and they release a verdict in your favour, that is by revoking the existing rules, then you will become eligible for admissions. Anyway you are allowed to fill the form now so you should. All the best.

Hello priyankaThank you very much for making me to understand the whole chaos. I have passed Biology in both the classes as a regular student along with practicals. It makes me eligible now for NEET 2018 . Indeed  I am thankful to you for the timely support and overcoming the trauma.
