Telling you the exact % of students placed from VIT would be a little difficult. I would rather tell you an estimated % of students placed based on the reviews of its pass out students and past year records.

Vellore Institute of Technology has been constantly gaining an edge in boosting up its placement records. You can say that almost around 80% of the students get placed every year. It's a mixture of your abilities (generally your coding skills and aptitude) and luck. Most of the placements are offered by MNCs.
They have even developed certain niches to offer jobs which are :-
1. Regular offers (Rs. 3-4 LPA)
2. Dream offers (Rs. 4-9 LPA)
3. Super dream offers (Rs. 9-30 LPA and above )
Some international job offers are also there (2-3 in a year).

The basic criteria for being eligible to sit for placements in most of the companies is that you should have 60% or above marks in 10th, 12th and your UG, PG level, without any arrears. It can even be > 8.5 CGPA for some companies.

It is evident from the last year stats that most of the placements are offered to CSE/IT branches (say 90-95%). The lowest records are for Civil branch.
More than 180 companies  like Microsoft, Infosys, De Shaw, Wipro Turbo, Cognizant, Pay pal etc. visit every year to recruit fresh graduates. The highest package offered in 2018 was Rs. 39 LPA by Microsoft. The average package was around 6.5 LPA, which is likely to increase in the coming sessions.
