By clearing SAT with "good marks" you consolidate your chances of getting admission into a University in USA.
And the scholarships, yes, the better your marks, the more chances of scholarship. And don't forget, these universities unlike the colleges from India will also consider your overall personality, your extra curricular activities and such things.
