1. Its a very old institute hence has a early mover advantage
2. Faculty is quite experienced
3. There are some very loyal companies visiting the campus year after year
4. Studies are always on priority rather than "glamour" as seen in other institutes
5. Location of institute is a problem. Visiting faculty (which is must) hence finds it difficult to come on regular basis. But SIES do manage somehow to arrange some. However I feel had the institute been located close to city, more visiting faculty (experienced ones) would have come to college.
6. Placements do occur. Good packages are offered. 

the cutoff percentile in sies is 80 . hence you have a good chances of getting into it
