After declaration of jee advance and jee mains ranks joint counselling is conducted by jossa fo filling seats of IITs ,nits, GFTIs, IIITs.you are asked to fill your choice and 7 round counselling took olace in jossa.
If still seat remains vaccant in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs then CSAB counselling done to fill the vaccant seats.
You have to choose freeze,slide ,float options after each round if you get college.
Then you have to report in alloted college for documents verification and fee payment.

after you have successfully cleared jee mains exam

you can apply for the counselling when the process starts , you can fill up colleges based on your preference and branches and wait for the rounds to show results.

at the end of each round, you will be allotted a college if you are eligible for that,

if you want to continue with that college, you can freeze your choice, else you can choose the option float and apply for more rounds of counselling.
