With a rank of around 19,000 in the general category, it becomes difficult to procure a seat in the government IHM's when comparing the results of previous years. Last year, the closing ranks were around 13,000 for general category. But you can apply for any private institutes. Also one thing to keep in mind is that scores and ranks vary each year with difficulty level of the question paper and availability of seats.
