You didn't mention you wrote which state polytechnic  entrance exam.To get admission in govt polytechnic its totally depends upon which state you are giving its entrance examination.Based on your rank,you will get one of the top govt polytechnic colleges and it is based on your category too.Normally Government colleges can allow upto 60k rank holders but if you get below 5000 or 6000 rank ,you will get prestigious college.Hope this information helps you.Here is the link to get more information.
