Preparing for JEE will not help you much because minimum criteria for admission in IITs and NITs is 75% in 12th. In other private engineering colleges also minimum criteria is 60% in 12th. You should try giving exams for your 12th again and prepare for JEE alongside.

Since your percentage in 12th class is too low. If you are preparing for JEE mains then atleast you should have a  75 % in class 12th such that you may became eligible for NIT'S as well IIITS. There is not any issue regarding the percentage eventhough you may get the direct admission in private colleges but during the time of placement you have to suffer for it because at the time of placement , companies want 60% throughout the carrer inorder to sit in their written examination.
