In general, if an Indian national completes Class 11 and 12 in India, they are not eligible for the DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) or CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf) schemes.

The DASA/CIWG schemes are specifically designed for students who have an international academic background. Below are the rules that apply to your situation:

1. The "Study Abroad" Requirement

To be eligible for DASA or CIWG, an Indian national must have:

• Completed at least two years of education (specifically Class 11 and Class 12 or equivalent) in a foreign country.

• This study period must fall within the last eight years.

• The student must have passed the qualifying exam (Class 12) from abroad.

2. Parental Status vs. Student Location

For the CIWG category, even if one or both of your parents are working in a Gulf country (UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc.), you, as the student, still need to meet the residential requirement.

• Case A: You stay in India for 11th and 12th while your parents work in the Gulf. In this case, you are not eligible.

• Case B: You move to the Gulf and complete 11th and 12th there while your parents work in the Gulf, then you are eligible.

3. Exception for Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO

The rule is different if you are not an Indian citizen:

• Foreign Nationals, OCI, and PIO cardholders are eligible for DASA even if they have studied in India, provided they meet the other academic and age criteria.
