KVPY has three different streams - SA, SX, SB.

SA Stream is the one who applies for the KVPY Exam while pursuing Class 11th (with Science Subjects). The SX Stream comprises candidates who are appearing or have passed Class 12th with science subjects. Stream SB is for the students enrolled for the 1st year of the undergraduate program and secured 60%(50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Basic Sciences, namely PCB in the 12th standard board examination.

Seats are higher for SA and SX than SB. If you are from the general category, it is up to 250 rank in both SA and SX. If you ST category reservation benefit, then just qualify in case of SA and SX, but you are not getting any advantage in SX. Now for OBC also, you will have a significant advantage in the case of SA and SX.
