Hey Tuhina.

BCOM LLB is a five year integrated course of law which combines an under graduate degree of  Bcom with Law. Normally it would take 6 years to complete it separately and now it would take 5 years. The scope of a career in law is very wide. There are various number of fields that you can enter after this. The scope after completion of Bcom LLB is pretty much the same as after competion of BA LLb, or 3 year LLb. There is not much difference.

Corporate Field- Most of the top tier NLUs and many other good colleges  have on campus placements. Various top law firms, Multi National companies, Private companies like AZB Partners, Amarchand and Mangaldas, Trilegal, Surana and Surana, Dua and Associates, Khaitan, Luthra and Luthra and many tops Multi National companies like KPMG etc also place students. The packages offered to students are very attractive. Many times foreign Law firms and MNCs have also placed students. Bcom Law graduates do not have any edge over others in corporate fields as such but they get the advantage of familiarity of the fields etc.

Litigation-  Various students after completion of  their law degrees go forward into the litigation field. Even though the corporate world seems attractive, litigation still remains one of the top career options after Law. People practice in various high courts, district courts and even the supreme court. They may start working personally or even under an established lawyer.

Judiciary-  You can also take Judicial Services exam after completion of your Law. You can give your state level judiciary exams and enter the lower judicary and become a Judicial Magistrate. This is one of the most sought after and respectable jobs.

Teaching- You can further go for Masters and complete your PHD in any field of law and take up the teaching career and become a professor of Law.

Government Jobs: You can also opt for jobs with the Department of Legal Affairs and Legislative Council in Legislative Department. Law officers and legal advisors are appointed in various ministries/department/undertakings of the government of India and state Government. These jobs can be given after UPSC or State PSC exams.

Career Abroad- Various law graduates opt for masters Abroad after completion of their law degree. There are various number of fields in which masters can be pursued. Many people opt courses like Intellectual property, Corporate Law, Environmental law, Human rights etc and work as associates, attorney, legal researchers/drafters in law firms abroad.
