Yes you cannot pursue fashion desiging course right after your 10th because the minimum eligibility criteria is to have done 10+2 to apply for fashion designing courses.  So to get into fashion designing as a career after 12th for 10+2, you have many options like either doing diploma or going for a certification course. You can do diploma in textile or leather design, diploma in visual OR retail merchandising, you can also go for certification courses of fashion, jewellery design, accessory design, etc.

You can choose any of the streams that is science commerce or arts but you need to have fine arts or a subject related to drawing in your class 12th that is important because some Institute ask for it. Eligibility criteria includes only passing of class 12th from recognised board . there is no specific reason to opt any stream but if you think you have interest towards any of these particular streams you can choose anyone wisely.
