Well let me explain it to you with the help of an example:=
Consider there are 100 students in the batch as yours. Now the exams were conducted and the results were declared. So now we have the topper, 2nd and 3rd rankers. So the topper has more marks than the other 99 students in the batch and the 2nd and the 3rd rankers have more marks than 98 and 97 students respectively.
In this case percentile is the total no. of students you have got more marks than.
It is calculated as= (Number of students who got lessor marks than you)*100/Total students
For instance if in the board exams you got 97.6% and this means you got more marks than most of the other students, considering that to be like 1246956(random no.) and the total students appeared in the exams were 1250000. So, your percentile is (1246956/1250000)*100
HI AYUSH,
Let me remind you brother that the percentile system of the JEE MAINS has been discontinued from JEE MAIN 2018 only so now it is not very necassay to think about it much.As you want to know about 'PERCENTILE' i would tell you its meaning as the percentage of students who are ahead of you in a particular examination.
Let me give you an example to explain - Let's say your Result in a particular Exam is 50 percentile then that means 50 percent students have scored better than you and are ahead of you in that particular exam.
THANKS!!!
